However, I checked the gutter size (both in the Default Caching Options and in the cascaded layer's caching options), and both were set to 0. I tried setting the layer's gutter size to 20 to see if there's a connection, but GeoServer keeps requesting 266x266 tiles, so apparently the gutter size is not causing it...
