I'm responding to my own previous post here,
I have Geoserver started back up again, running version 2.1.3 again.
However, WFS is not enabled.
When I view the catalina.out log I see a exception on

com.thoughtworks.xstream.mapper.CannotResolveClassException
cause: version : version
class: org.geoserver.wfs.WFSInfoImpl
required-type: java.util.HashMap
line number: 33

I did not get these errors prior to trying to upgrade to geoserver 2.2
I now get them when trying to install geoserver version 2.1.3.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

other specs:
Apache Tomcat 6.0.35
JVM Version 1.6.0_33-b04
Linux CentOS 6
