Elsewhere in the log I also get:

21 Jan 15:06:34 TRACE [org.geoserver.ows] - Client has closed stream
javax.imageio.IIOException: I/O error writing PNG file!
        at com.sun.imageio.plugins.png.PNGImageWriter.write(Unknown Source)
        at org.geotools.image.ImageWorker.writePNG(ImageWorker.java:2485)

Which was what I figured covered client closing the connection. I was
concerned with that one because its an ERROR type event and it happens
quite commonly.
