There are no upgrade instructions because normally the upgrade does not
require any particular step,
GeoServer upgrades the data dir structure automatically.
However, the data directory structure as you say changes, so if by any
chance you need to go back
to 2.0.2 that is going to be problematic.
As a result, better do a backup of the data directory before letting 2.2.4
modify its structure
