Ciao Markus,
I would check the following:

-1- did you put the .so in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH?
-2- I would explicitly also set the -Djava.library.path switch
-3- did you set the GDAL_DATA and GDAL_DRIVER_PATJ env var?

This looks like a misconfiguration of your env vars.
