Hi Rob,
I've not had that particular issue, but I have had some other issues
with Layer Groups within LayerGroups; they do tend to be a bit flaky,
though I can't put my finger on exactly what the issue is. (Also using
2.3.3). It's definitely worth keeping a close eye on them for unexpected
behaviour whenever some aspect of them or their constituent layers is
changed.
