Two different types of proxies, two different configurations.
Ian is giving you the solution for a forward proxy that GeoServer might
needs to access the internet itself.
Christian is giving you directions for a reverse proxy that you might be
using to expose GeoServer to the internet,
giving it a different hostname and path
