Hi Mary,
to be able to connect to SQLServer from GeoServer, you should enable the
mixed mode authentication in SQLServer (if it's not already enabled) and
connect using a SQLServer user credentials, not the PC user ones. You can
use the sa system user or create a new one from SQLServer Admin UI and give
it access to the database.
