Hi Steve,
The EA stuff requires a username and password too (because obviously they
can't just let *everyone* access public data easily). There's also an
"interface=environment" that seems to be required.
Try this:
http://www.geostore.com/OGC/OGCInterface?INTERFACE=ENVIRONMENT&UID=UDATAGOV2011&PASSWORD=datagov2011
(Note: Haven't tried it myself in GeoServer, but works in our OpenLayers
app)
Username/password straight from the source for the data.gov.uk wms :-)
