Hi group!

I have a problem with geoserver's rendering of halos and icons, as can
be seen in this enlarged screenshot of the WMS output:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/a226o6yb01flu9n/geoserver_icon_problem2.png

As you can see, the halo around the spot height is not centered around
the ciphers; instead it looks like it has has slipped down by one pixel,
so there is no halo above the ciphers, but a halo below which is wider
than one pixel.

When it comes to the icon display, look at the chapel symbol on the
right hand side: the icon itself is symmetrical, but in the display, the
rightmost column of pixels is missing, creating an asymmetrical display
- the same icon displayed at different coordinates may show correctly or
with a column missing on the left.

Both problems sometimes occur and are consistent with a specific feature
at a given zoom level, meaning it's irrelevant how the map is scrolled,
but when the zoom level is changed, the error reoccurs consistently for
the affected feature at specific zoom levels. The problem can be seen
both in geoserver's level preview as in a WMS client (I use QGIS).

The halo I use is specified as using the defaults:

             <Halo></Halo>

and the icon is a simple 8X18 gif file.

I am using this geoserver version:

     Version 2.4.4
     Git Revision 1501c797690b6eb9b86b8d7732ca82445fcb6b1a
     Build Date 20-Jan-2014 19:35
     GeoTools Version 10.4
      (rev 0de519b5c9c37db44fd3e988f2c2020b70163904)
     GeoWebCache Version 1.5.0
      (rev 1.5.x/f981cafd349886bb2a1ef45067f26b1aa8e4aff4)

running under tomcat7

My system is 32 bit Kubuntu 12.04 on an Intel® CPU T2300 @ 1.66GHz × 2
