The tfw contains the "grid to world" affine transformation, not the
projection, which would be in the prj file instead.
Btw, a tif + tfw + prj is not a proper GeoTIFF, GeoTIFF has a spec, which
says every georeferencing information is
in the file headers (that is, you just have one file).
