Layers work fine in openlayers and in preview in geoserver
Its only in mapinfo that they don’t appear, when I say I white screen I mean a
new mapper window is blank

You really need to give us some more clues before we can help. Such as do the
layers work in preview? do they work in other clients? is there some difference
between the layers that do work and those that don't? is there a message in the
log file? etc
