thank you for your answer, I'm going to plan the setup of 2 tomcat instances 
for deploying 2 geoserver.

Actually I'm testing your (geosolution) mapstore/geostore to store and serve 
maps.
Following the documentation I had some troubles configuring the authorization 
for geostore/geoserver binding,
for instances I was not able to administer my running geoserver (that I was 
configuring for such binding) since 
the active role service had to be setup geostore user.
So that's way I would setup a geoserver for mapstore/geostore purpose and leave 
the mine to serve the already existing
layers.

What about? What do you suggest on this regards?
