Hi Victoria,

Your image actually shows but it is so dark that you can't see it. The average
value on greyscale 0-255 is only 14.2

gdalinfo PM25_monthly_19971000.tiff -stats
...
Metadata:
  STATISTICS_MAXIMUM=169
  STATISTICS_MEAN=14.204098037538
  STATISTICS_MINIMUM=1
  STATISTICS_STDDEV=8.2208826615229

Quick and dirty fix is to rescale image with GDAL and stretch the beginning of
the scale 0-40 -> 0-255

gdal_translate -of GTiff -co tiled=yes PM25_monthly_19971000.tif scaled.tif
-scale 0 40 0 255

Proper way with Geoserver is to publish the image through a SLD that does the
stretch on-the-fly. I would guess that ContrastEnhancement Histogram could suit
for this image
