Hi all,

I'm working on a project aimed at persisting raster data in a cloud-based storage solution. For our purposes, we expect to be storing varying resolutions of an image pyramid.

For separate, programmatic concerns, we are interested in querying to find out which level of the image pyramid will completely cover a desired bounding box. I'm wondering what is the most natural way to answer that question.

I've considered CSW, and it doesn't seem to be a perfect fit. On the other hand, one could image writing a GeoTools DataStore which could answer WFS requests in a hacky way. Is there a more typical way to answer a question about a portion of a raster?

Thanks in advance,

Jim
