As I am currently a little sick, I only managed to test a small
portion. Maybe it can be of help, so I will post it here:
- Runs on tomcat8/ (oracle) java8
https://registry.hub.docker.com/u/komu/tomcat8-java8/dockerfile/
- Works fine with the OpenGeo plugin in Geoserver
- Handles the dutch projection (EPSG:28992) fine in the layer previes with OL3
One small thing; If you open the options on the layer preview; the
buttons are a bit small (see attached screenshot) these can be
enhanced by setting the padding on the css style for
#updateFilterButton, #resetFilterButton
to 1em.
The geoserver log looks fine, no errors. Here are some small warnings
that reoccur:

returned. Make sure you are not calling Component#getString() inside
your Component's constructor. Offending component: [MarkupContainer
[Component id = parametersPanel]]
