Jair, direct connection to DataBC services is performed not in GeoServer but in your OpenLayers interface. The client accesses these services directly through OpenLayers, which allows these layers to be combined with your custom GeoServer layers in their web browser.
Look in the WMS column on the DataBC Services page: http://www.data.gov.bc.ca/dbc/geographic/connect/index.page For each link remove everything after the "?", leaving you with the service URL. Use this in OpenLayers just as you did for GeoServer. XML files obtained from a WMS are often KML (for Google Earth or similar). As KML is already a portrayal format not a data format, it is unsuitable for loading into a database or delivery by GeoServer. I recommend direct connection via DataBC WMS services, as described above. Less work, and clients get the most up-to-date map.
