Interesting.
The following is my use case;
I have one raster dataset that only covers a specific area. Once outside of
that area I want another dataset (vector layer group which includes labels)
to be rendered. So I thought grouping them, making the limited dataset draw
last would create the desired effect.

Does that make sense?  I guess I'm a very edge case and possibly not
actually do-able, as I don't think I can tell geoserver to 'only draw this
dataset outside of this bbox'.
