do you have any chance to share the full log?
Which version of GeoServer are you using? (2.8.x, X = ?)
I have a doubt in relation to the time unit.
I think that the current code only deals with "seconds/minutes/hours/days
since the reference time".
I'm not sure it will support the "years since date" type.
Let's see if the log says something more to provide you more feedbacks.
