Hello all

I've inherited a CentOS box, and am trying to get Geoserver running under
Tomcat. I'm not a very competent Linux user. I have installed Java, Tomcat,
and Geoserver. When I try to add a new user, I get the following:

An error occurred while saving the user:
com.sun.org.apache.xml.internal.serializer.utils.WrappedRuntimeException:
Could not load the propery file 'output_xml.properties' for output method
'xml' (check CLASSPATH)

How can I fix this? I have found the following information:

https://xalan.apache.org/xalan-j/faq.html#faq-10

Other search results point to the same information. It says:

"Place the xalan.jar, serializer.jar, xercesImpl.jar and xml-apis.jar in the
<java-home>\lib\endorsed directory"

However, I have no endorsed directory.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Tom

Geoserver 2.9.0
Tomcat 8.0.35
Java 1.8.0_71-b15
CentOS 6.8
