All,

We are trying to setup a PostgreSQL (v 9.5) connection pool for our
Geoserver 2.9 instance based on this tutorial:
http://docs.geoserver.org/stable/en/user/tutorials/tomcat-jndi/tomcat-jndi.html

We have been unsuccessful so far in this attempt. After updating the
context.xml file and issuing "service restart for tomcat", the Geoserver
instance will not start. We have removed the Postgres JDBC driver file
from Geoserver's WEB-INF/lib folder and moved it to Tomcat's lib folder.
We have also tested it with "postgresql-9.3-1103.jdbc3.jar" and
"postgresql-9.4-1201-jdbc41.jar" driver files. As soon as the context.xml
file is reverted to its original contents the Geoserver starts up fine.

The following are used in our environment:

OS: Centos 7
Geoserver: 2.9
PostgreSQL: 9.5
Tomcat: 7.0

Any advice on how to get this thing working?

Thanks,
Vijay Ramalingam
