Subject: Re: [Geoserver-users] Feature Data Reader Query Zoom level

Hi Chris,
during a WMS request the GetMap machinery sets some environment variables that
you can pick, using the env function,
to know the scale denominator:

http://docs.geoserver.org/stable/en/user/styling/sld/extensions/substitution.html#predefined-variables

There is no such a thing as a "zoom level" in WMS, but if you really need that
number you can probably
compare the scale denominator with a table of values to get the closest
matching z value

Cheers
Andrea

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a way to determine the zoom level of a WMS call
against a content feature reader? For example, if a query is passed into a
feature data source/reader, is it possible to tell based on the FastBBOX filter
what the current zoom/scale of the request is?

I ask because I’d like to create a dynamic data store/feature source that
generates lines/polygons specific to the bounds that are being requested via
WMS adding higher density of geometries the closer to the ground the request
is. Is this possible?
