Hi, capabilities operations don't require authentication by default. If my memory serves me well the only things that require authentication in GeoServer by default are:
* the REST API * the web UI * WFS transaction operation In your case you defined the following security rules: *.*=* wfs.*=role-1,role-2,role-n,GROUP_ADMIN,ADMIN I think that in GeoServer the most specific rules have priority over the most general ones. This means that in your case any WFS operation will require authentication for sure.
