yes, confirmed, I get a fully black image running a viewer such as:

I believe this has not been noticed because all devs I know that are into image
processing run with JAI-EXT enabled
all the time (both in development and in production), and the above looks like
some error about JAI not recognizing
a JAI-EXT specific parameter.
I've tried to enable JAI-EXT and indeed the map draws fine. See also:

Unfortunately JAI-EXT is still not ready for everybody to use (even if
essential in several cases, e.g., no data
treatment, large WCS extractions), so we'll have to fix this one.
Could you be so kind to open a bug report?
