Hi Andrea,

Thanks a lot for your response and suggestion. For the moment it seems we will
leave it as it is, but will likely come back to it once a few other things are
sorted. I will of course update the list with the results if we attempt to
implement this suggestion, or any other workaround.

Thanks again,

Matt

Hi Matthew,
one possibility would be to implement your own security subsystem and plugging
it into
GeoServer, one of the things a custom ResourceAccessManager can do is to set
a viewing area for raster data, which will be used as a cookie cutter:

https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/blob/master/src/main/src/main/java/org/geoserver/security/ResourceAccessManager.java

There are no tutorial on how to do that, but you can check the two
implementations of
that interface in the codebase, the default one and the one in the GeoFence
integration.

Cheers
Andrea

Hi List,

I have a WMS (a topographical map of Sweden) that I am cascading and using as
a background layer to our own web map. I would like to show only the area of
the topographic map that is relevant to our area. A simple rectangular box is
what I am looking for.. I know that it is not yet possible to change the styles
of cascaded WMS, but deciding to show a specific part of it feels like it could
be possible, but I have not been able to find ideas on how to do this.

So my question is, is this possible to achieve within Geoserver and how can it
be done? Any suggestions and or instruction from anybody that has done this or
thought about doing this before would be really appreciated.

I’m running Geoserver 2.11.2 on Windows 7. The map service is written in
OpenLayers 3.

Thanks a lot!

Matt
