Hi,
As you can see from http://geoserver.org/ we maintain three major versions:
- Stable
- Maintenance
- Development
Version 2.11 is at the maintenance state while 2.12 is the current stable, or
production version.
Version 2.11.5 is in a way the newest GeoServer version because it is just
released. However it lacks features which are only implemented into newer major
versions 2.12 and 2.13.
