Thanks for your answer. I found out on another site that I have to pass an XML body which looks like this :
<featureType><name>featuretypeName</name><enabled>true</enabled></featureType> There's absoluteley no mention of this in the documentation. Now It seems that there's a bug in 2.12.1 : I update the bounds via REST. I get 200 OK. If I try to update the same layer again I get 404 Not found. It seems like the featuretype name has been changed.
