Oh wow, GeoServer actually runs on JDK 12? It's like the first installation
I hear about.
Mind, 2.15.x is built and tested with java 8 and java 11, most
installations I know about are running a OpenJDK 8 (which unlike Oracle JDK
is still supported and getting releases, see for example
https://adoptopenjdk.net/)

Honestly I don't know, but, you say the data is the same... is the
configuration too? Is the JDK a 12 in both cases?
