It should be pretty simple, then, to just reference this attribute in the SLD styling. I'm not sure, off hand, if SLD supports math. With a little digging I found this SO thread<https://gis.stackexchange.com/a/131111> that shows how to use basic math functions within SLD styling. Hope this helps.
