Rebooting doesn’t fix the problem. Moving to verbose logging shows this warning
when I log in.
2020-04-17 11:09:17,095 WARN [geoserver.security] - Failed login, user admin
from 161.65.53.68
But I log in ok. (and I did not log in as user admin).
No error being logged like the one I get when attempting to save. I get the
error even if trying to save a changed status for “Advertised”.
Think I may have found it. The logs now show a lot errors like below,
associated with layers with EPSG:2193 – a very common projection. It is these
layers that I suddenly cant edit (despite being able to do so a couple of days
ago). I can edit layers which have 4326 or 3031. These are geotiffs originating
in ArcGis so I will have another go a getting a better projection for them.

That is odd, and not much to go on! Do you want to try turning up the logging
using of one of the other logging profiles to see if you can get some more
details?
The error message appears to be due to an API change, is there any chance you
are mixing and matching components from different GeoServer builds (say using a
community module?). Or are you using a different version of Java that has not
been tested enough with GeoServer?
Please try and reproduce the issue with the recent release candidate also.

When I try to change the style of a raster layer to a valid SLD style that is
used by many other layers, I have getting an error when I save:
Java.lang.reflect.UndeclaredThrowableException and it doesn’t save. Doesn’t
seem related to layer. Nor to a particular style.
Nothing is added to the log file.
Actually, I am struggling to save any change. Tried logging out and in. Disk
space is fine.
