Hi Iaan, no, that's not possible out of the box, you'd have to write a new plugin for GeoServer doing that. That said, it's technically possible, by writing a DispatcherCallback implementation that intercepts WFS GetFeature requests, wraps the returned feature collections, and runs the aggregates you need while the data is being pulled out of the data sources, for output encoding. Careful about the unique id values, with large requests they can keep a bunch of memory blocked (the in-memory representation of the set of ids). With enough concurrent requests, that will lead to out-of-memory errors.
