Hi, you cannot, the layer group is "dismantled" into its component layers at request parse time, none of the WMS machinery handling GetFeatureInfo even knows what laye groups are. A code change could maybe done to bring that information in, but it would be quite far from trivial and would affect all code paths handling GetFeatureInfo and GetMap.
