Hello all,

Thanks to all of you for taking my comments in the positive light that
they were intended for.

In response to Matthias Basler's comments.

1 On integrating docs into the release policy:

I would greatly encourage this and hope to be able to contribute to the
effort. I believe it more important to get a clean platform of current
capabilities than working on features with temporality or volume, much
as both are critical to my ultimate aims.

2. Up to date tutorials:

This echoes my feeling that "user" level tutorials ought to become a
unit test of some sort although I don't yet understand the unit testing.

3. A real user manual:

My effort has actually turned into this. My ultimate aim is to build a
very general spatial analysis platform which now looks possible as a
stack jts/geotools/eclipse/uDig/R/Rsp along with gnumeric and all the
other practical utilities required for scientific analysis. My proximate
effort is to provide myself (and therefore others) with a correct
documentation stack for writing uDig plugins. This includes:
*(A user's intro to the implementation of a GIS in a computer.)
*An intro to the ISO/OpenGIS/GeoAPI standards and terminology.
        *Basic JTS.
        *Fundamental Geotools.
        *Plugins in eclipse.
        *Hacking uDig.
*Advanced ideas: building a new world view complexFeatures,
        derivedFeatures, and other oddities.
Like you, however, I don't know nearly enough so the process includes an
immense amount of self-education.

4. (not my place to comment)

5. On providing a simpler api:

Not a priority. Serious GIS users can deal with complexity if investing
the time to learn it makes sense. This does require Geotools defining
for its users where and when this is true.

ciao,
