I would like to build an experimental geotools 2.2.M1 release with
Maven 2 in same time than the usual Maven 1 build. If experience show
that the Maven 2 build is okay, we could (at some later stage) remove
Maven 1 configuration files. According my few experiments, I believe
that Maven 2 is:
* Faster and lighter than Maven 1.0.
* Easier to configure (no properties file; everything is in pom.xml).
* Custom plugins in Java language open a lot of possibilities (it may
help us to solve some grief against Geotools releases, for example
the duplication of JAR files).
* Transitive dependencies.
Sounds great Martin, Justin was talking about making exactly the same
changes today. Perhaps Justin can set up Cruise Control based on Maven 2?
Cheers,
Jody
