As for the future:
- short term is just to roll your own, perhaps using Jesse's example
- long term is GO-1 (Geo Objects) which is the target Martin wishes to
take his StyledMapPane towards, a lot of work, implementation and
frankly politics stands between him and his goal
- mid term is GeoWidgets which aims to make gui widgets for common
scientific purposes. One of which is a Map.
