Using the indexed shapefile datastore, I was a little disapointed with
its initial performace. However with Jesse's help we have determined
that attribute lookups are slowing things down.
If a query is phrased so that it does reference any attributes it is
very fast, as soon as attributes are brought into the picture things
slow down. I plan to look into how the attributes are being indexed.
