Jody,
given this decision I think it would be far easier to implement an upgrade
path if we go back to Geotools Filter and Geometry interfaces on our FM
proposal implementation?
Yes, and Yes.
I would like to send the state of the implementation to a proper geotools
branch at the end of the week when the business driver test cases are
completely implemented, and using geotools Filter and Geometries will allow
that, as long as providing an upgrade path by adapting and deprecating the
old factories and related stuff.
Too soon,
- I need my JXPath question answered (before we have a proposal)
- We should focus on SimpleFeature/SimpleFeatureImpl to ensure as much
method level compatibility as we can (using deprecations to provide
suggestions).
If I can get my JXPath question answer we can ask for a branch on
Mondays meeting?
The first complex use case is up and running on the spike module.
Congrats. Were you able to implement an "override" based query into the
FeatureType system? I cannot remember if I got to that one yet or not.
By the other hand, I have a few questions:
It seems we didn't provided yet a clear way for constructing Attribute
instances and validating its contents.
As for construction we will need to breakdown the usual Factory /
Builder / Parser split for FeatureType ...
This time we really need to use a FeatureFactory (my motivation for
involvement).
The old way is by AttributeType.parse and AttributeType.validate
Should we validate content at Attribute.set(Object)? or do you envision it
another way?
Oh we actually do have that covered. Remember Filter? It is used - if
all the Filters return true then the contents are valid. When this
occurs, not sure yet (what would a good workflow for validation be?)
I am glad you are getting to code this week, sorry I am unable to join
you. Perhaps on the weekend?
Jody
