I'll not be able to attend today's IRC meeting,
though I guess an update on the FM stuff is required.

I started using the complex-features branch, and got main working against the
new FM.
I have deprecated old Feature classes and made them extend the new ones as
required to get main compiling as usual.
This is because I need to start quickly working on the complex datastore
stuff, thus having main working with the new FM is mandatory for me, and I
will stay in the branch from now on.

Goal is to get the complex datastore using the new interfaces/classes directly
and provide a working main jar for my project to be replace the official
main.jar on deployment, no plans to merge with trunk in the short term, but
to serve as a proof of concept and allow the gt community to check the
usefulness of the new stuff on a working system.

All tests from main seems to keep passing in the updated complex-features
branch except a few wired errors in literenderer test about JTS utility class
not being able of projecting Envelopes. May be its a known issue or I messed
it up in someway I can't see right now, lets see if I can figure it out
tomorrow, as long as how to get maven compiling it all with Java 5. (Jody:
what your plans are to get the new stuff compiling on 1.4, if any?)

FM itself can keep evolving separatelly if needed, and I'll be pleased of
helping out and keep my branch aligned with further decisions.

Not to tell that not all aspects of the new FM are fully tested, though I have
enough to start.

Jody: I'll send you a few more specific thoughts tomorrow but now I really
have to run home.

best regards,

Gabriel.
