Reading this exchange, we have developers out there in the wild that want to avoid testing over the Internet.. Could we do this the same way we do with GeoServer tests for WFS? Only engage them when a local PostGIS has been installed?

We could arrange for the nightly build machines to have a postgis available as localhost, by making it the default someone like Dave can just install a PostGIS and get out of waiting for the Internet? We could still have one remote OnlineTest that would ensure that they are able to say read the typeNames form the server we are using right now...

I was also talking to SAIC (if I have the acronym right), they are apparently quite happy to help non-profits with data wrangling, They are already setting up a geoserver (to use some hardware they have around), with a postgis. I have asked them to look into serving up the new blue marble data set as a wms for "us". Perhaps GeoServer could use its non profit status to scare up some bandwidth in different parts of the world - this is a global project after all - could a server be stood up closer to you?

Oops, sorry, fixture.properties is the file. All the data is setup by the test case, the database does not needs to be pre-populated.

Under the test directory (same package directory as the tests) there is
a file called test.fixture. It contains all the db paramters that the
tests use to connect. Change this file to point to your local box and
your tests should fly.

I was unable to find this file "test.fixture". Does it also contain all
the data required, or do the test cases also build the database?

Oh, I just found a fixture.properties which looks like it has the
connection info. Does the DB require any tables or anything in it?
