I tried the same thing with tortoise SVN and got the same error messages. I played around with firewall settings and tortoise started to sometimes work (but subclipse still doesnt). Thats quite strange. I opened port 80 - does SVN require anything else?
I'm checking out a new version, perhaps that will fix it.
