I completely agree, and have always made this very clear. Jody knows this well, which is why he said no when someone from GeoAPI asked about desires to go to 1.5. If GeoTools is to go to JDK 1.5 then there's basically no way GeoServer developers would support it, since all our users are J2EE, and like you, many can not upgrade.

I very much agree, and this is where GeoTools suffers, since it is completely a community effort. It gains a _ton_ from that, but there's no organization that can really afford to spend a whole lot of time just on documenting and doing interface improvements. We all help out as much as possible, because we know it helps hugely in the long run. But, unfortunately, given the choice to document GeoServer and document GeoTools, I'll pick GeoServer just about every time, since it's my primary project. That said, I've just about finished up a massive GeoServer documentation run, so it should start to run itself a lot better, so perhaps I'll have some geotools time soon. And part of this, please don't hesitate to join the effort to document better, you're no different than any of us. Indeed, as you point out, contributing towards documentation or better named interfaces will help the project out a lot more than just another data format supported. best regards, Chris > > Generics and autoboxing are all very well, but will they make it > *that* much easier for developers to accomplish their goals? > > Regards > > John Grange > Senior Software Engineer > Tel: +44 (0)1749 834922 > email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > BlueFinger Limited > Underwood Business Park > Wookey Hole Road, WELLS.
