The original email spelled out that maven (of any description) was out of bounds, and I suspect that Ant is too heavyweight as well.

The user doesn't need Maven. We just need to make sure that our geotools-bin*.zip zipball contains the JAR files built by Maven 2. From that point, the user need nothing more than the ordinary J2SE 1.4 environment. Use of "Class-Path" entry in META-INF/MANIFEST.MF is a standard J2SE feature.

The maven 1 build is dead Martin, we are switching uDig over to grab jars from the maven 2 Repo etc...

Any hint about when we can delete the Maven 1 related files then? It may help to simplify our directory structure and avoid confusion (e.g. updating project.xml instead of pom.xml).

        Martin.
