I've heard about the GO-1 renderer, but I dont know anything about it.
Could you give a few sentances on what it is?
It is a formal OGC specification you can download that defines the
various aspects of a rendering system. It has concepts such as a
"Graphic" and a system that goes from "Feature" to "Graphic" and so on.
[...snip...]
of its own (Graphic would be a great object for our "decimated" Java Shape for
example).
Just to let know: the J2D-renderer already do exactly that for a few years (What GO-1 call "Graphic"
was called "RenderedLayer" in J2D-renderer, and a RenderedLayer hold a decimated, clipped and
projected shape).
Actually, the J2D-renderer is closer in design to GO-1 than the streaming renderer, which is why my
plan was to refactor J2D-renderer and stole the SLD engine from the streaming renderer. If you
perform the following name substitution:
J2D renderer GO-1
-----------------------------
RenderedLayer --> Graphic
Renderer --> Canvas
the similarity between J2D renderer and GO-1 become a little bit more visible.
