They appear to either be ... - something written by dzwiers for uDig? (contains @since 0.6 a obvious uDig hint) - the start of a query mechanism
I cannot find any code that calls the AST interface ... You did ask me about the introduction of a visitor API for the catalog classes and I had to respond that it was inappropriate as the same interface should represent a remote catalog.
