Hey Ian and all, By placing all demo/ files in the public domain, we would provide Geotools users with files from which they could start, regardless of their ultimate aims with the library.
(1) None of these files are part of the library, but merely examples of how to use the library. Therefore placing these files in the public domain does not reduce the freedom of the library itself (whatever one's definition of software freedom). (2) If we make the demos contain routines that are the best way to use the library, we will push users towards doing things the "right way". Ian, I've pasted most of your MapViewer.java code into the demo/introduction on which I am working. Therefore, I would need your go ahead to change this file into the public domain. PMC / Everyone else, My tutorial has cobbled together pointers from the mailing list, previous tutorials, and javadocs. Therefore I would hope to get a general consensus on this change. cheers, adrian PS Note that for the moment I am only talking about demo/introduction. I have not had the time to consider any other demo/* modules. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys. Earn Cash.
