Hey all,

I'm using the unannounced 2.2.0 release to see what the experience is
like. On the whole things work (except for stuff we already know about).
However...

We can install from the *-bin* archive.
        We get no source.

We could then add the src to each module.
You gotta be kidding, weren't computers designed to do
                the drudge work?

We can install and build from the *-src* archive.
Perhaps we could but that guarantees much pain.

1) Is there a way to run 'maven eclipse:ecplise' and get a nice
pre-configured setup for eclipse?
I notice that extracting both the -src and the -bin in the same
directory leads to a less than elegant result (all the jars are
in the top level, all the src is in its own directory structure.

2) Could we create 'fat' jars with both the binary .class files and the
source files inside?
Yes this might be a bid download---download time is cheaper than
(newbie totally puzzled look time + documenter time).

We don't have an SDK, a nice, well packaged all-in-one, big but totally
functional archive. All the free software mantras, "Use the source",
"The source is the best documentation" and their ilk, fail.

Can't our magical Maven2 do some extra work for us? Can't it package up
the mother of all tarballs? Is this hard, not attempted or frowned upon
for some reason?

--adrian, on behalf of the mortal users.
