I have only maintained a Refractions Research (c) on code that was explicitly done as part of uDig, or as part of some other project and then donated with permission of the customer to GeoTools. Work work where we are paid directly to fix GeoTools it has never been a problem to assign (c) right away. That is we were paid to fix some code that was held in (c) by the PMC. Normally the @author tag is sufficient credit. Paul I do not recall the DatumAliases.java file, could you confirm its history for us please?
