I do not think that JMapPane has been fixed. Aaime's fix works the way
it would be expected to. Iant's work doesn't appear to have had the
impact I expected.

Updating my svn branch, I still get the same error as before. Are you
sure that you got the message issue settled? Are you doing this update
to the 2.2.0 branch?

Try moving the MapViewer.java demo into a different module/project, for
example in org.geotools.demo.introduction. You'll have to update the
imports to get all the variables recognized. There it appears that the
messages file is still not picked up. I currently get:
