My understanding is that they still part of Geotools build (from a Maven user 
point of view, there is no difference; the artifactID still "gt2-db2"), but the 
risk may be a little bit higher than "supported" modules: there is not as much 
volunter resources ensuring that this module always build, has bug fixes, etc.

For the "DB2" module, I can't said anything - I'm not familiar with this 
module. 
I just followed the instruction in the "GTSteering" document. However if you 
feel that it is stable, then I would be glad to move it back to the "extension" 
directory :). I think that Jody could help us (as a guide) through the steps 
that we try to formalize.
