Not necessarly obscure, just more complete. As you point out in a next email,
non-extensive tests just test some subsampling of EPSG codes, assuming that if
the EPSG factory work for a few EPSG codes it would work for most of them. The
extensive tests perform the real test for all EPSG codes in some ranges.
